bonprix launches new Circular Collection for spring with Digital Product Passport
press release
•03.04.2025
With the new spring season, bonprix is presenting its fifth Circular Collection, once again sending a clear signal in favour of circularity and transparency in the fashion industry. The Digital Product Passport takes centre stage: each item is equipped with a QR code that leads to a digital product page with comprehensive information about the garment. The collection is part of the alliance initiative ‘Implementing Circularity in the Textile Industry’, which promotes circular solutions in the textile industry.
Colourful spring fashion – more sustainable and durable
Under the motto ‘Spring Blush’, the new Circular Collection from bonprix brings fresh colours and timeless women’s basics into the wardrobe. In addition to fashionable denim trousers, the collection includes an airy dress, shirts and a top. In addition to the neutral shades of black and ivory-white, bright pink and blush-pink provide spring-like accents. The clean, minimalist designs can be combined with many different looks.
All styles are made from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton and have been designed according to the Circular Design Criteria by circular.fashion, which stand for the use of safe*, renewable and/or recycled materials, as well as recyclability and durability. Thanks to high-quality materials and workmanship, the garments are extremely comfortable to wear and can accompany their wearers for many seasons.
Digital Product Passport for maximum transparency
The Digital Product Passport allows customers to find out more about their garment. After scanning the QR code on the hangtag and woven label, they are taken to a digital product page from circular.fashion, which provides all the important information about the product’s life cycle. This includes details on the material composition and production locations as well as care instructions to increase longevity. The page also shows how the product can be returned to the cycle at the end of its life cycle – whether through reuse or by recycling via the take-back option offered.
Carolin Klar, Managing Director Product, Sourcing & Corporate Responsibility at bonprix, explains: “For us, sustainability not only means responsible material selection and resource-conserving processes, but also transparency along the entire value chain. With the Digital Product Passport, we enable our customers to see exactly where their garment comes from, what materials it was made from and what options are available at the end of its use. In this way, we want to promote conscious consumption and make our contribution to the circular economy.”
Working together for circularity in the textile industry
The fifth Circular Collection is part of the alliance initiative ‘Implementing Circularity in the Textile Industry’ (ICTI) in Germany, which was initiated in 2024 by circular.fashion and the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ, Society for International Cooperation). In this initiative, bonprix, OTTO and the Otto Group are working with other textile companies to develop circular textile products and integrate circular processes into supply chains. As part of the initiative, the suppliers in Bangladesh and India that are responsible for the new Circular Collection were trained in workshops on topics such as circular design, Digital Product Passport and recyclability.
bonprix also cooperates with the non-profit organisation aktion hoffnung. As a sorting partner, it checks returned items of clothing and ensures that they are worn again or recycled to a high standard. Customers can simply return their circular styles using a free parcel label.
Stefanie Sumfleth, Vice President Corporate Responsibility, Technical Product & Sourcing at bonprix, knows: “The key to sustainable change in the textile industry lies in sharing knowledge and experience. By working closely with our partners and suppliers, we can develop new, circular processes and drive forward circularity in the industry.”
The ICTI initiative will be concluded in summer 2025, but bonprix will continue to invest in circular solutions beyond that. The next Circular Collection is already being planned, and further product categories are to be equipped with the Digital Product Passport in the future.
