
bonprix wins Internet World Business Shop Award for ‘Best Brand Shop’

There is cause for celebration at Hamburg's international fashion retailer: on Monday evening in Munich, the online shop www.bonprix.de was awarded the Internet World Business Shop Award in the ‘Best Brand Shop’ category in the year of its 33rd anniversary. After ranking third in 2018 among a field of high-calibre competitors, the web shop was able to convince the eleven-member expert jury across the board this year, particularly with its ‘mobile first’ approach.
bonprix launched its website back in 1997 and, thanks to its consistent customer focus, is now one of the ten online shops with the highest turnover in Germany, according to the ‘E-Commerce Market Germany 2018’ study by EHI Retail Institute/Statista. Markus Fuchshofen, bonprix Managing Director of E-Commerce, Sales Germany and Brand, was involved in the launch of the first website and is delighted about the ‘Best Brand Shop’ award: "When we started selling our fashion online over two decades ago, I honestly didn't think that we would now be generating over 80 per cent of our sales via the internet. This makes me all the more proud that we have managed to continuously convince our customers of our range in distance selling and that the expert jury now also recognises that we are doing a really good job."
On the evening of 11 March, the award winners were honoured at a ceremony in Munich. Martin Groß-Albenhausen, Deputy Managing Director of the German E-Commerce and Distance Selling Trade Association (bevh), presented the award to bonprix and had particularly high praise: "The award for best brand shop is more than just a prize for excellent work in the digital sales channel. It is – especially in view of the strong competitive environment – a great honour for a company that was known in Germany as a “fashion discounter” just ten years ago. The award is certainly not the finish line, but an important stage victory in the marathon that began almost ten years ago with the change from “Mode sooo günstig” to “bonprix – it's me”. Today, everything comes together: spot-on collections, intelligent pricing and offering strategies, consistent presentation of the brand essence across all channels and, last but not least, the company's “approachability” conveyed both online and offline."
For the ninth time, the Internet World Business Shop Award was presented to the best online shops in German-speaking countries. Around 200 e-commerce decision-makers gathered at the Grand Hotel ‘Bayerischer Hof’ in Munich this year. A total of 245 applicants hoped to win an award in 2019 in the categories ‘Best Online Retailer’, ‘Best Brand Shop’, ‘Best B2B Shop’ and ‘Hidden Champion’. In addition, the audience award ‘Retailer of the Year’ was presented for the first time this year.
